Growing up in Southwest Mississippi it was no wonder that a strong passion for God's beautiful outdoors would develop. There wasn't a summer spent without a fishing pole in hand, and I remember at an early age hunting with my father on what seemed to me those cold winter mornings. Spring brought a new sound in my life that would grow into another passion. But thats a whole other chapter.
I left my home of Tylertown, MS in 2001 enlisting in the United States Navy, Where I spent six years of active duty. In the midst of that I found myself married and then came a beautiful daughter. Upon completion of my active duty I pursued my taxidermy career more aggressively. The good Lord has since blessed me with another beautiful and healthly daughter.
Many ask the orgin of the name Leatherwood Taxidermy. It was an easy process when I went to name my company. The little rural country road I lived on growing up was orginally named, Leatherwood Road. Named after a creek that feeds into the Bogue Chitto River there right at my backdoor. I spent a many of days on the soil around these landmarks from my younger days. So it was easily interpreted how the name Leatherwood Taxidermy just came so naturally.
